Well this past week was the Rusk County Junior Fair, which is a big highlight in my family's life! My siblings have been working on projects and animals for weeks....

Yep...sometimes it all get a little crazy...

It's all great fun, but all of us are quite thankful when its all over!!!

Since we all hope that next year we will be introducing our Miss "A" to her first junior fair, it was only natural that we should include Miss "A" in this one! So we had a table for her in the craft booth...

The booth was filled with handmade items from family and friends...

Harmony is our #1 sales lady, she loves to sit and share about the things she has made and about our adoption.

A huge thank you to aunt Kitty and all the hours she put in at the craft booth this weekend!

There is a 4-H food booth that all the 4-H clubs can work for $90, but they had several empty shift, so they asked us to work a couple shifts and said, we could have the money for the adoption. So of course we took it! Thursday and Friday evening, our friends and church family helped us serve up a lot of food....

This is definitely not the whole group! But thank you to everyone that helped out! I know that I had a blast and  its so amazing to see all the different people, talents, and hearts that God is using to bring my baby sister home.

All proceeds will help the Velie’s adoption of an 8 year old Ecuadorian girl- she has been waiting her whole life for a family, so we want to help her come home as soon as we can!

Craft Show

Miss A is going to have her very own craft show! 

She doesn't know yet, but she is coming into a family that loves to craft and create! Which is a good thing, because Miss A likes to makes crafts too! So what better way to raise money for the little girl we love then by doing the things we love???

Miss A’s Adoption Craft Show

September 28, 2013,

9 am – 2 pm

At the Potter’s House, (Old Jump River School) Jump River, WI.

We will have all sorts of vendors and sellers, silent auction, bake sale and concessions.

100% of the proceeds go to the adoption. Miss A has been waiting her whole life for a family, so we want to help her come home as soon as we can!

If you are a crafter or vendor or know someone who would be interested in a booth, let us know! We can send you some more information.

Or you can help support us by spreading the word! We are so thankful for each and every person that helps and prays along the way. Because quite honestly, WE NEED YOU!

Fundraising.....

  Fundraising... I have many thoughts on this.

I remember when the children used to go to a christian school and when the girls were in Girl Scouts and we had to do fundraising for these things.  It was a lot of work, but fun at the same time trying to raise money to help support the things that were important to us.

I was actually glad about not having to do that anymore when we decided to home school, I have not missed it one bit.

 Now, many years later and still home schooling I am back at fundraising.  As I talk with other families that have already adopted and some have done fundraising.  They say how hard it is and humbling to ask people for money to help support you in this journey you have decided to take.  

Oh how true that is!  So many times I don't want to ask, and worry what they might think or say.  Or, just quit altogether and just wait for God to give us all the money without us working or trying to do our part.  I feel the Lord leading each and every step of the way as people contact us with ideas or fundraisers they are doing for us.  How can I just sit?  After we seen this families efforts to help.  http://ecuadoradoption.blogspot.com/2013/03/have-2-lets-get-miss-home.html

Our family pulled together for the long road that lay ahead and started planning our fundraising plan.  You should of heard some of the ideas that started coming out.  It was getting late and a little silly.  So two fundraisers behind us and one currently running all summer we are ready for the long haul, so please bear with us.  Since I started this post we have had a few more fundraisers and have a few currently running.  We are approximately 1/3 of the way to meet our needs.  This is totally a family affair, we all our joining in as well as our church family.

Coming up this summer are still a few more bake sales, thrift sales( as we continue to get in donations for items to sell), recycling cans, Taste of Louisiana Dinner along with raffle, craft show along with raffle, bake sale, thrift sale, and food.  Along with some on-line sales that people continue to offer to do for us.  Any ideas are welcome as we continue on this journey.
